shrubJasminum is a genus of over 200 species of shrubs and vines in the olive family Oleaceae, native to tropical and warm temperate regions of Asia, Africa, and Oceania. The plants are widely cultivated for their characteristic fragrant flowers, which are typically white or yellow and around 2.5 cm in diameter. Jasmines can be deciduous or evergreen with leaves in opposing or alternating arrangement; some species are erect or spreading shrubs while others are climbing vines.
Suitable for light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils; prefers well-drained soil. Can tolerate mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils.
