treeAcer palmatum is a deciduous tree native to Korea, Japan, China, eastern Mongolia, and southeast Russia, commonly known as Japanese maple. It typically reaches heights of 6 to 10 m (20 to 33 ft) with a mature width of 4.5 to 10 m (15 to 33 ft), often growing as an understory plant in shady woodlands with a characteristic dome-like canopy form.
Prefers well-drained soil; suitable for light sandy, medium loamy, and heavy clay soils; can grow in mildly acid, neutral, basic (mildly alkaline), or very acid soils.
