Daylilies are herbaceous clump-forming perennials in the genus Hemerocallis, native to Asia and belonging to the family Asphodelaceae. They are characterized by strap-like, linear lanceolate leaves growing in a fountain-like shape, and large showy flowers that typically last about a day, produced on tall scapes with three petals and three sepals.
