Beans beans beans 2026!
My great passion in the garden is edible plants of all kinds, BUT the thing that makes me a little extra happy during sowing, growth, and harvest has to be BEANS!
These come in all possible colors, patterns, and shapes. There's something quietly spectacular about watching bean plants climb — their foliage spiraling upward in vivid green until, suddenly, the pods appear. Dangling in every shape and hue, they transform the plant from simply lush to genuinely beautiful. And then comes the best part: harvest. It is just as exciting every time to open a dried bean pod. How did the color turn out? How many are there?
The sorting at harvest is first and foremost to secure next year's seeds, so the beans that come from pods with many large beans are saved, those that are damaged or bad are thrown away, and the rest are divided into what I need for jewelry and sales. The ones left over I save for food.
The drying process is not very long since I let them dry on the plant, so after I take them out of the pod I let them dry on trays for two weeks so that I am completely sure they are dry.
But first and foremost, the sowing! That happened this weekend (April 11). There were many trays… Now they are all sitting in my unheated greenhouse, hoping that the sun will come and warm it up.

Vitlöksdags!

De flesta trädgårdsproblem ger dig en hel säsong att fundera. Bladmögel ger dig ungefär tio dagar. Det anländer med vinden i den kvava slutet av juli, och skillnaden mellan att förlora en skörd och att rädda större delen av den handlar oftast om du kände igen det på första morgonen eller den fjärde.
