flowerEryngium is a genus of flowering plants in the family Apiaceae, with about 250 species distributed cosmopolitan but centered in the western Mediterranean, South America and Mexico. The genus comprises annual and perennial herbs with hairless and usually spiny leaves, producing dome-shaped umbels of steely blue or white flowers with whorls of spiny basal bracts.
Prefers well-drained soil, suitable for light (sandy) and medium (loamy) soils, can grow in nutritionally poor soil, tolerant of mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils
Thrives in the same full sun, moderate water conditions as Eryngo, Sea Holly
