Grape hyacinth is a bulbous perennial herb with origins in southeastern Europe, Armenia, and Asia Minor. It produces densely packed, deep violet-blue, bell-shaped flowers that resemble an upside-down bunch of grapes, growing up to 6 inches tall. The slightly fragrant flowers bloom in mid-spring for 3–4 weeks and the plant naturalizes readily, making it popular for border fronts, rock gardens, and naturalized drifts.
