Many Hypericum species are shrubs or herbaceous plants known for their yellow flowers and use in traditional medicine, though some species are regarded as invasive weeds.
Suitable for light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils; prefers well-drained soil. Can grow in mildly acid, neutral, and basic (mildly alkaline) soils, and tolerates very acid and very alkaline soils. Can tolerate drought.
