herbVerbascum thapsus, commonly known as great mullein or common mullein, is a biennial flowering plant in the figwort family (Scrophulariaceae) native to Europe and Asia. The plant forms a dense rosette of densely hairy leaves at ground level in its first year, then sends up a tall flowering stem in the second year bearing yellow flowers with five symmetrical petals.
