Oxalis triangularis, commonly called Purple Shamrock or false shamrock, is a perennial houseplant native to southern South America with distinctive deep maroon trifoliate (three-leafed) leaves that resemble clover. The plant grows to approximately 50 cm tall and broad, features white or pale pink five-petalled flowers that bloom from spring to autumn, and displays unique nyctinastic leaf movement—the leaves fold down at night, when disturbed, or in harsh sunlight.
