Rubus phoenicolasius, commonly known as wineberry or Japanese wineberry, is a deciduous shrub native to East Asia that produces distinctive wine-red berries in summer. The plant grows to approximately 3 metres in height and is valued both as an ornamental and for its edible fruit, which has a tart, raspberry-like flavour with subtle wine notes.
