African violets are herbaceous perennial flowering plants in the Gesneriaceae family, native to Tanzania and adjacent southeastern Kenya. They are compact plants with rosette growth habits, typically 6–15 cm tall and 6–30 cm wide, featuring rounded to oval, finely hairy leaves with a fleshy texture. The flowers are small (2–3 cm diameter), velvety, five-lobed, and come in violet, purple, pale blue, or white, growing in clusters on slender stalks.
Thrives in the same partial sun, moderate water conditions as African Violet
African Violet is usually grown from cuttings rather than seed. Take a healthy stem cutting, remove the lower leaves, and root it in moist, free-draining compost.
Water: Medium · Height: 10 cm · Soil: Well-draining soil with organic matter; prefers slightly acidic conditions
