Athyrium filix-femina, commonly known as lady fern or common lady-fern, is a large, feathery species of fern native to temperate Asia, Europe, North America, and North Africa. It is deciduous with light yellow-green fronds that are 20–90 centimetres long and 5–25 cm broad, displaying an elliptical overall shape with delicate, highly dissected 3-pinnate foliage. The plant is cespitose, arising from a central point as a clump, and is often found abundantly in damp, shady woodland environments where it is frequently grown for its elegant and graceful decorative appearance.
