shrubBuxus is a genus of about seventy slow-growing evergreen shrubs and small trees in the family Buxaceae, typically growing to 2–12 m tall with opposite, rounded to lanceolate, leathery leaves. The small yellow-green flowers are monoecious and pollinated by bees and flies, followed by small capsule fruits containing seeds.
Tolerates light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils. Prefers well-drained soil. Suitable for mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils. Can grow in very alkaline soils.
Also a perennial — same seasonal rhythm as box
