Forsythia is a genus of deciduous flowering shrubs in the olive family Oleaceae, native mostly to Eastern Asia with one species from Southeastern Europe. These shrubs typically grow 1–3 m tall, rarely up to 6 m, and are celebrated for their bright yellow flowers that appear in early spring before the leaves emerge.

Forsythia is usually grown from cuttings rather than seed. Take a healthy stem cutting, remove the lower leaves, and root it in moist, free-draining compost.
