Ninebark is a flowering, deciduous shrub in the rose family native to central and eastern North America. It displays white or pink flowers from late spring into early summer and is noted for its distinctive exfoliating bark that peels in papery strips to reveal reddish to light brown inner bark. The plant is tough, adaptable, fast-growing, and relatively trouble-free, tolerating a wide range of soil and site conditions from moist to dry.
