flowerCrocosmia, commonly known as montbretia, is a genus of flowering plants in the iris family (Iridaceae) native to the grasslands of southern and eastern Africa. These perennial plants grow from underground corms and produce colourful inflorescences with 4 to 20 vivid red and orange flowers on branched stems, flowering from early summer into autumn.
Prefers light, rich, sandy soil; succeeds in most soils except very heavy clays or bogs; suitable for mildly acid, neutral, and basic (mildly alkaline) soils
Thrives in the same partial sun, moderate water conditions as Montbretia
