Humulus lupulus L.
Humulus lupulus is a perennial, herbaceous twining vine native to Europe that has naturalized in North America. The plant is dioecious with female flowers forming in characteristic cone-like clusters (hops) with yellow glands, while male flowers form in larger, airy clusters. It is commercially grown for its dried female flower clusters, which are used as a flavoring and bittering agent in beer production.
