flowerPhlox is a genus of 68 species of perennial and annual flowering plants in the family Polemoniaceae, found mostly in North America in diverse habitats from alpine tundra to open woodland and prairie. The name derives from Ancient Greek meaning 'flame', referring to the intense flower colors which may be pale blue, violet, pink, bright red, or white, with many species being fragrant.
Prefers well-drained, mildly acid to neutral soils; suitable for light sandy and medium loamy soils; can tolerate both moist and drought conditions
