Hemerocallis is a genus of herbaceous perennial flowering plants in the family Asphodelaceae, native to Asia. The plants are clump-forming perennials growing from rhizomes, with fibrous or fibrous-tuberous root systems, arching strap-like basal leaves, and large showy flowers that typically last only one day, hence the common name 'daylily'.
