flowerTagetes is a genus of 50 species of annual or perennial herbaceous plants in the family Asteraceae, native to Mexico and Latin America. Plants vary in size from 0.1 to 2.2 m tall with pinnate green leaves and flower heads typically 1-6 cm diameter in golden, orange, yellow, and white colors, often with maroon highlights.
Grows in light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils; prefers well-drained soil and can tolerate heavy clay; suitable for mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils; cannot grow in shade.
