They are evergreen shrubs and small trees, popular as ornamental plants worldwide, with some species producing tea leaves (C. sinensis) and tea seed oil (C. oleifera).
Prefers well-drained, mildly acid to neutral soil; can tolerate very acid soils. Suitable for light sandy and medium loamy soils.
