Attract Hoverflies, Lacewings, Ladybirds, Parasitic wasps to keep them in check — plant African Marigold, Angelica and Anise nearby.
Rich, well-draining loam with organic matter. pH 6.0-7.5. Prefers warm soil with good moisture retention.
