The weeping fig is a broadleaf evergreen tree native to southeastern Asia and Australia, with drooping branches and elliptic leaves with long, acuminate tips. In its natural habitat it may reach 40 to 50 feet tall with a spread of 25 to 30 feet, but as a houseplant it is usually kept between 2 to 10 feet tall and is popular for its attractive appearance, low maintenance, and tolerance of poor growing conditions.
